Appleton Group and High Cliff Yacht Club to Sponsor 2017 Eclipse Ellipse Regatta

One of the highlights of the summer of 2017 will be the solar eclipse on August 21st. Visible from Lake Winnebago, 80% of the sun will be blocked and there’s no better view than from the middle of the lake.

To make it even more memorable, High Cliff Yacht Club and The Appleton Group will sponsor a friendly sailboat regatta starting at 11:52 AM (start of the eclipse) and running in an elliptical course (marking the path the moon takes around the earth). Coventry Glassworks will be creating an artisan trophy to commemorate the Regatta, awarded to the boat finishing the lengthy course with the best PHRF-adjusted time.

Registered competitors will receive race specifics (Lake location, regatta rules, competitor lists, etc.) prior to the race.
